The SMFM 2026 Global Congress abstract submission portal is now open and accepting abstracts through Wednesday, 25 March (17:00 CET/5:00 PM ET).
As long as it was not presented or published prior to 1 October 2025, research that has been previously presented or published is eligible for submission.

Important Note About Global Congress Registration for Accepted Abstract Presenters
All accepted abstracts will require the individual designated as the Presenting Author to register and attend the Global Congress to present the abstract in person (in Utrecht). SMFM does not offer discounted or complimentary registration for abstract presenters, so please make sure you have taken a look at our

Important Dates
- Wednesday, 14 January: Abstract submission site opens
- Wednesday, 25 March, 17:00 (5:00 pm ET): Abstract submission deadline
- Monday, 1 June: Submitters notified of whether or not their submission has been accepted or declined
- Monday, 8 June: Withdrawal deadline for accepted abstracts

Yes, nonmembers can submit an abstract.
Yes, we accept industry-supported abstracts. All financial interests, commercial or federally funded research, must be disclosed upon submission.
Yes, as long as the research was previously presented or published after 1 October 2025. Research that was presented or published prior to 1 October 2025 is ineligible for submission. If you are not able to guarantee this, please do not submit the abstract.
While we currently have no prohibition on any study type for submission, our historical data shows that case reports have rarely been accepted for presentation after the review process. Generally, most presentations are comparative in study design, whether observational or interventional.
All abstracts require all the mandatory components designated within our abstract submission portal, and we do not have a specific submission format for case report submissions. However, if your case report is structured to meet the requirements, the portal will allow it to be submitted. All submissions will be peer-reviewed and scored by the criteria specified within this document and, if scored highly, they will be extended an acceptance for presentation at the SMFM Global Congress.
No, panel presentations are not accepted.
All abstracts undergo a blinded peer-review process. They are initially reviewed by four General Reviewers. Top-scoring abstracts are then reviewed by four Senior Reviewers, with final selections made by the Program Committee.
No, abstract presenters are expected to pay the full registration fee for the SMFM Global Congress and attend the congress to present in person in Utrecht, Netherlands.
Abstracts can be edited until the submission deadline (Wednesday, 25 March 2026 at 17:00 CET/5:00 pm ET). After this deadline, edits cannot be made, and accepted abstracts will be published as submitted.
Accepted abstracts will be published in the PREGNANCY supplement. Authors also assign copyright to SMFM upon acceptance.
